How to use the map

Map views

The Map used on the Norc websites can be viewed in several ways:
  • Map mode - this way the user sees only streets.
  • Hybrid mode - in this way the user sees the streets drawn superimposed over satellite images.

Switching from one way to another is done by pressing the button "Map" or "Hybrid" placed in the right corner, above the map.

Working With The Map

  • Pan – moving the map in any direction desired by the user, in order to view different areas of the map. Moving the map is done by bringing the cursor over the map, then simultaneously press the left button of the mouse and move the cursor, and as a result the map will move in the desired direction.
  • Zoom in/out - by these actions the user can see a certain area of the map more detailed (zoom in) or less detailed (zoom out). These actions may be done through the commands placed in the left upside corner of the map, by pressing the "+" to zoom in and "-" to zoom out.

Map positioning

To position the map to a desired place, two methods can be used:
  • by moving the map, as a result of combined actions of zoom and pan, until the desired position is reached.
  • by using the two boxes in the positioning interface named "Searching area".

In this case, the left box allows to choose a city from a list of the available cities. After selecting the desired city, the map will automatically position on that city.

In the right box of the interface, the user can type the name of the street he wants to position to . A minimum of 3 characters is required to be entered. If there are several name streets begining with the same characters , the user can choose the desired street from the displayed list. By pressing the search button, the map will automatically move to the chosen location.

Bear in mind that the two positioning systems are not synchronized. Thus, if the user chooses to position the map using pan, the "Searching area" interface will not indicate the city and the street where the map is located, but will remain empty.

Also, if the user chooses to position the map using the interface "Searching area" and then he change the position of the map using pan, the "Searching area" interface boxes will keep the original values chosen by the user, and will not synchronize with the new position of the map.
